So, here we are; Clare and Simon’s big cycle ride: 2 months in the saddle across 10 countries, taking all our worldly goods with us in a couple of panniers each. Well that’s the plan anyway! We’re following the Eurovelo 6 route, which goes from the Atlantic coast of France to the Black Sea in Romania, about 2,500 miles. We’re starting at the Romanian end and working westwards towards France, following the Danube pretty much to its source in Germany (so uphill for about 1,500 miles) and then the Rhine and Loire (a bit of downhill at last). If all goes to plan we should go through Romania, Bulgaria, Serbia, Croatia, Hungary, Slovakia, Germany (Bavaria), Switzerland and France. Hopefully it will be a fascinating journey though diverse cultures, taking in some famous cities along the way: Budapest, Vienna, Bratislava and Belgrade and some beautiful countryside. We’ve bought our one way ticket to Bucharest and will have to see if the bodies and bikes are up to it…

WIFI connections permitting we’ll try and keep this blog updated as we go along.
